Biography
Dr. Maryam Farooqui is a pharmacist and a Senior lecturer at Faculty of Pharmacy, UiTM, Pinang. Dr Maryam is the recipient of the “Prestigious Publication award†from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Penang for two consecutive years in 2013 & 2014. Her research area focused on investigating the role of Complementary and Alternative Medicines (CAM) in Oncology care by using qualitative methodology. She completed her undergraduate studies at University of Karachi, Pakistan and received bachelor in pharmacy (B.Pharm) during the year 2000. She obtained her Masters in clinical pharmacy (M.Pharm, Clinical) from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 2005. She recently completed her doctorate (Ph.D) in pharmacy practice from Discipline of Social and Administrative Pharmacy (DSAP), school of pharmaceutical sciences, USM. She has been actively involved in qualitative investigations on understanding cancer patients’ behaviors towards conventional and traditional medicines. She is also involved in investigating the Health Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) of patients with chronic diseases. Currently she is involved in various CAM projects specifically on Malaysian doctors’ perceptions towards CAM and its integration into the modern health care system. She is a reviewer of top tie health policy and pharmacy practice journals. She has published more than 60 articles in peer reviewed journals. Dr Maryam is currently acting in the editorial board of some of the local and international journals including Journal of Pharmaceutical Policy and Practice,
